Indigenous Student STEM Access Program

Indigenous Learning Space

The Indigenous Student STEM Access Program (ISSAP) is a preliminary year pathway that provides Indigenous students, including First Nation (status and non-status), Metis, and Inuit, with an alternative pathway to pursue either an Engineering or Science program at Western University. This one year program provides students with the opportunity to transition successfully from high school to post-secondary studies and acclimate to university life, courses, and lectures while completing their prerequisite courses (equivalent to Grades 11 and 12) for either Engineering or Science. An assigned Academic Advisor and university success team will work with each student to design a successful pathway of support that meets both the needs of the student and the respective program.

Entrance scholarships are available for eligible students entering ISSAP to help offset the cost of tuition.

Following the completion of ISSAP with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, students would be eligible to transfer into First Year Engineering or First Year Science or Medical Science programs.

Applications are open now. The deadline to apply for admission to the September 2024 Fall term is August 1, 2024.
