Psychology is both an applied and academic field that studies the human mind and behaviour. Research in Psychology seeks to understand and explain thought, emotion, and behaviour.
Applications of Psychology are everywhere:
- Mental health treatment
- Sport performance enhancement
- The legal system
- And public health campaigns, to name just a few.
Why Take Psychology at Brescia?
At Brescia there are smaller classes that make for a more student-centred and friendly experience. The Psychology faculty at Brescia are dedicated to making students feel empowered – free to chat, ask questions, and discuss issues. We offer a wide range of courses in Psychology, including Fundamentals of Forensic Psychology, Introduction to Educational Psychology, Drugs and Behaviour, The Exceptional Child, Neuroscience of Motivation and Emotion, Psychology of Persuasion, among many others, including an Honor’s Thesis course.
What Program Options Would I have at Brescia?
At Brescia, you can do a Minor, Major, Specialization, or Honors Specialization in Psychology. Additionally, you can take a double major with another discipline (e.g., Sociology). The Major is most appropriate for students who want a strong background in Psychology because of interest or career plans, but who will not pursue Psychology at the graduate level (e.g., future lawyers, teachers, doctors, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and business-people). If you plan to continue your study of Psychology in graduate school, you should take the Honors Specialization in Psychology.
At Brescia, you have all the opportunities of a larger university, with a warmer, compassionate atmosphere – the best of both worlds!
