Brescia mourns the passing of Bishop John Sherlock

The Brescia community shares in profound sadness and mourns the passing of Bishop John Michael Sherlock of the Diocese of London, who passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12th, 2019 in his 94th year.

John Michael Sherlock was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 1950, and as a Bishop on August 28, 1974.  Four years later, he was named the ninth Bishop of the Diocese of London and installed at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica on August 21, 1978. For 24 years, from 1978 to 2002, Bishop Sherlock served as the Bishop of London.

The Brescia community is invited to attend the Visitation for Bishop Sherlock, which will take place at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica on Thursday, August 15, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m., and on Friday morning from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, August 16th, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica.
