Volunteering Services - Personal Interest

l

"Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop."

- Dr. Dorothy I. Heigh
President and CEO of the NCNW

Create Meaningful Connections with the London Community!

Brescia's Volunteering Services hosts several unique programs designed to help students find volunteer opportunities with an organization or a cause that they are passionate about. Through their participation, students can make positive contributions to and develop strong connections with various organizations in the London community.

Through volunteering, students are able to apply their education to better the lives of others, develop and strengthen transferable skills, and establish a professional network.

How Can You Get Involved?

Brescia's Student Services Centre offers several unique opportunities for you to connect with the London community through volunteering. These include:

Brescia's Day of Service

Designed to facilitate opportunities for Brescia students to give back and support the London community, Brescia's Day of Service places students in a one-time volunteer opportunity with a local community organization. Through this experience, Brescia students will be introduced to a community service as well as support that service through their volunteering efforts.

Brescia's Day of Service dates for 2011/2012 are:

Brescia Day of Service #1
October 22, 2011
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Brescia Day of Service #2
March 17, 2012
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

To sign up for Brescia's Day of Service, please see the Volunteering Services contact information below.

Community Campaigns

Brescia hosts annual on-campus community campaigns on campus designed to create new links between Brescia's students and the London community. These campaigns focus on raising awareness amongst Brescia students for local community needs as well as providing our students with opportunities to support the London organizations that strive day in and day out to meet those community needs.

The 2011/2012 Community Campaigns are:

Campaign #1
Food Drive in Support of the London Food Bank
November 1, 2011 to November 30, 2011

Campaign #2
Book Drive in Support of the London Public Library

If you are a current Brescia student and interested in gaining event planning and leadership skills then this is a great opportunity. This committee meets bi-weekly beginning in October 2011.

Community Partners

We have developed relationships with key organizations in the London Community that we encourage our students to work with in a volunteer capacity. These organizations recruit volunteers to assist with not only their day to day operations, but also with the execution of their programs.
