Course Readings

The Beryl Ivey Library places course reading materials on reserve at the request of faculty members.

Our physical course reserves are kept on our shelves behind the circulation desk in call number order – please make sure you have the call number when you come to ask for a reserve! You can look up all of your course readings by logging in to the Course Readings page with your Western Identity credentials.

Please note:

  • Reserve items have varying loan periods (2-Hour, 1-Day, 3-Day, 7-Day).
  • All reserve items are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Any overdue items result in a $2.00 fine, for each hour they are late.
  • Materials may only be renewed if there is a second copy available. If there is only one copy, you must wait 10 minutes before signing out again as other students may be waiting for them.

Overnight Reserve Policy

Students may borrow two hour reserves overnight, if they check out material two hours before close or less. Overnight reserves must be placed in the drop-box outside the library by the times noted below. If reserves are returned after the library is open, they should be given to a library staff person at the circulation desk. The table below is based on our regular hours from September – April.

  • Abusers of this program will be restricted from borrowing reserves overnight; further restrictions of reserve borrowing privileges may also occur.
