Bell Let’s Talk Day

The Student Life Centre and Wellness Education Peers are excited to be joining over 200 Canadian post-secondary institutions to participate in Bell Let’s Talk Day. This nation-wide initiative is designed to encourage open discussion of mental health and illness in an effort to reduce the stigma people experience with mental health concerns.

To mark this important day of discussion, this year Brescia is holding a large event on January 30th, 2019 in the MSJ Auditorium from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will feature free food; popcorn; an on-site photo booth; wellness activities; a give-away of the iconic Bell Let’s Talk Day toques and information booths from the BUCSC, jack.org, SNAP and the Care Program! While the event is meant to bring students together, we recognize the importance of every person on campus – student, faculty and staff – to join this conversation. We invite you to drop by the Auditorium on Bell Let’s Talk Day to take part in the activities!

Additionally, we’re looking for the Brescia community to take part in a brief video where students, faculty and staff can speak to what mental health means to them, in a few words. We’ll be holding drop-in filming sessions in the Mercato on January 21st, 22nd and 24th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We would love a variety of people from the Brescia community to take part, and the video will be played during our Bell Let’s Talk Day.

Thanks in advance for your support in this event and for helping to break the silence around mental illness and supporting mental health at Brescia. If you have any questions, please contact Sheldon at shill63@uwo.ca.
