Become a Career Peer

The Career Peers are important members of the Student Life Centre. This peer program emphasizes a student-driven, peer-to-peer support approach to career development, offered through a customized one-on-one setting. As a team of upper-year students, Career Peers provide resume, cover letter and Linked-In support to Brescia students and work closely with SLC staff to deliver career-related programming, such as workshops, mock interviews and events.

Become the Student Coordinator: Career Peer Program

The Student Coordinator role is a volunteer opportunity for an individual, ideally, from a previous Career Peer Program and seeks to continue their professional development by assisting the Coordinator, Student Life & Learning in administering all aspects of the program. The Student Coordinator will assist with program administration, program development, meeting facilitation, be the lead in developing ‘My Career Story’ panel series, and other areas as needed.

Become a Mentee in the Professional Mentoring Program

The Professional Mentoring Program is an opportunity for a senior student in any discipline to be matched with a mentor, who may be a Brescia alumna or community member. Mentoring is a great way to increase your communication and networking skills, help you prepare for your future career and transition into the professional work force, and an opportunity for you to develop your skills while learning from someone else’s experiences. Mentees will work closely with their mentor and the Coordinator, Student Life and Learning from the Student Life Centre for the academic year to develop and maintain a positive and supportive mentoring relationship.

Become the Student Coordinator: Professional Mentoring Program

The Student Coordinator position is a volunteer opportunity for an upper-year student to further their professional development by assisting the Coordinator, Student Life & Learning in administering all aspects of the Professional Mentoring Program. The Student Coordinator will assist with program administration, curriculum development, meeting facilitation, mentee support, and other areas as needed.

Become a Wellness Peer

Wellness Peers are important members of the Student Life Centre (SLC) at Brescia. The Wellness Peer Program is a student driven program that emphasizes the motto of “by students, with students, for students” with advisement from the Student Wellness Educator. As a team of second to upper-year students, Wellness Peers will participate in developing campus-wide initiatives and key institutional messages using multiple approaches (ie. website, social media, workshops, print resources, video) to improve supportive attitudes and awareness of mental health/wellness. Wellness Peers will be known as mental health champions at Brescia and will encourage early help-seeking behaviours by teaching students about the mental health continuum, resilience building, increasing knowledge of self-care/self-management strategies and how to recognize when individuals should seek help.

Become the Student Coordinator: Wellness Peer Team

The Student Coordinator role is an enhanced volunteer opportunity for an individual from a previous Wellness Peer Program to continue their professional development by assisting the Student Wellness Educator in administering all aspects of the programs. The Student Coordinator will assist with program administration, program development, workshop facilitation, Wellness Peer support, and other areas as needed.

Become an Orientation Leader (Soph)

Orientation Leaders (Sophs) are upper-year students who have dedicated themselves to welcoming students to Western and the affiliate university colleges (Brescia, Huron and King’s). Sophs are carefully selected and trained to ensure the positive orientation and transition of each incoming student. Brescia Sophs are leaders, resources, supports, and friends to our new-to-Brescia students throughout Orientation Week.

Clubs

At Brescia, you have the opportunity to participate in both Brescia and Western University Clubs. Clubs are a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with other students who have similar interests as you. If you cannot find a club to meet your passion, why not start your own. Visit the Brescia University College Students’ Council Office for information about starting a new club.

Students’ Council

Brescia University has an active Students’ Council that participates within the University, as well within The Western University Students’ Council (USC). Elections are held annually for all positions.
