Cool Teaching Ideas

Cool Teaching Ideas (CTI) is Brescia’s teaching community of practice – an informal discussion group for all things teaching. Participants are encouraged to bring great teaching ideas they’ve discovered, questions or problems for the group to discuss or any other burning teaching topic on their mind. We meet three times per year and all instructors are welcome.

Upcoming Sessions

Tuesday, February 23th at 1:00 pm

Brescia's ALT Centre will host its second Cool Teaching Ideas meeting of the new year on Tuesday, February 23 at 1:00 pm. Discussions will include how to engage students in online courses.  These meetings are also an opportunity for you to share ideas, suggestions, and questions with your colleagues.  Please find the zoom details below. Please email Mike O'Connor if you would like to be part of this event.

CTI Format

For the first 30 minutes of each session we troubleshoot a specific topic of interest to Brescia instructors; these topics come out of previous meetings or from suggestions made at the time of registration. The remaining 30 minutes is an open-formal discussion. While sessions are open to any topic the following themes often emerge:

  • Classroom management
  • Teaching strategies and active learning
  • Attendance

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all 2020-2021 Cool Teaching Ideas will be held online via Zoom.
