London, ON – On Saturday, April 2nd more than 35 young women from Canada, the United States and the Caribbean will gather at Brescia University College to compete for a one-year full academic scholarship and room in residence at Brescia’s 8th annual Take the Lead public speaking contest.

Take the Lead welcomes young women in Grades 11 and 12 to participate in Brescia’s unique, one-of-a-kind public speaking contest. Contestants will speak about past or present “women who empower others through leadership.” Contestants submitted an initial pre-recorded, five-minute video of their speech and finalists were invited to deliver their speeches in person at the event.

Brescia will also host 37 women judges, many of whom are local London leaders in education, communications, and members of the Brescia community.

“Brescia is thrilled to host our 8th annual Take the Lead public speaking contest,” says Brescia Interim Principal, Dr. Donna Rogers. “Take the Lead is an integral event at Brescia, and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of women leaders.”
