FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

London, ON – On April 19, 2018, Emmy Award-winning journalist Ann Curry will headline the BresciaLEAD Awards. This national award celebration honours exceptional women leaders and an organization that embody Brescia’s values of leading with wisdom, justice and compassion in a changing world.

Known globally for her work as an NBC News Network anchor and international correspondent, Curry will provide the keynote address at the Gala, drawing upon her experiences as a war correspondent in Syria, Darfur, Serbia and Iraq to share lessons on women’s empowerment, humanitarianism and learning the art of compassion.

“We are honoured to welcome Ann Curry as our keynote speaker,” says Erin Rankin Nash, Chair of the BresciaLEAD Awards Committee. “In a time where fake news and vitriol lead the headlines, Curry’s refreshing focus on women’s empowerment, humanitarianism and learning the art of compassion will be sure to make for another inspiring evening.”

Held in 2016, the inaugural BresciaLEAD Awards Gala featured keynote speaker Geena Davis, who spoke about unconscious gender bias and the empowerment of girls and women worldwide. This signature event, held every other year, will once again recognize three exceptional women leaders and one organization that embody Brescia’s values, in the four distinct categories: Lifetime Award, Emerging Award, Activist Award and Distinction Award.

Brescia’s Principal, Dr. Susan Mumm says, “For almost 100 years Brescia has been committed to educating and developing tomorrow’s women leaders. The BresciaLEAD Awards provides us with an important platform to inform the conversation about women in leadership and celebrate the diversity and accomplishments of these remarkable women leaders.”

The BresciaLEAD Awards takes place Thursday, April 19th, 2018 at the London Convention Centre. Early bird tickets, available September through December, are $1,400 for a table of 8 or $175 per person.
