To become a doctor in Canada, students must graduate from an approved MD program at an accredited university (3 or more likely 4 years), followed by completing a residency (2-5 years) and a fellowship for certain specializations (1-2 years).

There are different admission requirements for each school. Look at the prerequisites carefully to ensure you have the required courses. Admission committees of different schools vary in their emphasis on GPA, MCAT, references and extracurricular activities. Each school will calculate your GPA differently.

Dentistry

There are two dental schools in Ontario and a total of 10 dental schools across Canada. Admission to Ontario’s dental schools requires completion of at least two years of an accredited undergraduate degree program. All practitioners must fulfill the requirements of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) before they are licensed to practice in Ontario.
