Students at Brescia University College inspire me to think about ‘what is next’ and ‘what is possible’. While Brescia students forge their paths to make a difference in the world, I want to be part of a campaign that ensures our campus remains a place of integrity, curiosity, intellectual and moral foundation.
Every day I am reminded about the value of a campus that focusses on women’s education. My classroom discussions are rich with authenticity and a robust blend of mind and spiritual exploration. I believe our attention to pedagogy and emphasis on holistic education prepares women to approach the next stages of their lives fearlessly. We provide an excellent education on par with the top universities in the world. We intentionally address gender with the relevant issues and perspectives for women to thrive.
At Brescia University College, we cultivate and preserve spaces for each individual woman to have ‘a room of one’s own’ – intellectually, spiritually and physically. Our Brescia women embrace the world as it is, and our campus connections ensure the most vibrant connections, while preserving a thoughtful place away from it all. We also nurture a community of support that manifests in meaningful networks and bonds that will carry them throughout their lives.
As a leader in education, I have a deep understanding of Catholic institutions of higher education. Throughout my life, I have become closely associated with the Sisters of the Precious Blood, the Jesuits, the Congregation of Holy Cross, the Franciscans, and now the Ursulines. As a religious community, the Ursuline Sisters particularly astound me with their profound care for the world and generous commitment to service through education, all while preserving savvy commitments to financial sustainability.
When I move in the circles of the community, I want to hear everyone’s stories about Brescia. So many stories identify Brescia as a place they may have heard of, but know very little about. I love actively smashing the idea we are a Canada’s best kept secret. Bring out the trumpets! Tear down the walls! Our campus is most excellent and we welcome the attention.
