Baccalaureate & Convocation

Graduation is a celebratory milestone recognizing all of your accomplishments during your time at Brescia. Because you have completed your education at an affiliate university, you and your family woudl normally have the opportunity to celebrate at both Brescia’s Baccalaureate and Magisterial Ceremony and Western’s Convocation Ceremony.

Graduation 2021 Update

Western has announced that Spring Convocation will be postponed. Brescia supports Western’s decision, and plans to honour our 2021 graduates with a virtual celebration.

In light of this announcement, I ask that you please mark your calendars for Monday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m. EST. when our community will virtually come together for Brescia’s 2021 graduation celebration. All are welcome to join. Please invite your friends and family, who are both near and far. The advantage of a virtual ceremony is that there is no limit to guests! Our “Class of 2021 Celebration” will be easy to access online, linked from our website.

More details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Baccalaureate and Magisterial Ceremony

This special celebration marks your formal graduation from Brescia University College. The ceremony is open to you, a registered Brescia student who is expected to graduate in June or October, and your family and friends. During this ceremony, you will hear from the Grad Class Speaker, academic awards will be distributed and your class will be welcomed into the Brescia Alumnae Association with the presentation of alumnae rings.

All graduates are issued four Baccalaureate tickets by Brescia. As we are unable to issue additional tickets to students, it is suggested graduates connect with fellow classmates as some may not need all of their issued tickets.

Convocation marks your formal graduation from Western University. All graduates, family, friends, faculty and staff gather in front of Ursuline Hall before walking down the Brescia hill to Western. This annual Brescia tradition is led by a bagpiper followed by the graduates, family and friends walking towards Alumni Hall. During the ceremony you will be hooded, admitted to Western’s Alumni Association and you will receive your degree, diploma or certificate.

All graduates are issued four convocation tickets by Western. These tickets will be available at the end of May and can be accessed online. Should you require additional tickets, Western sends out an email with instructions to all graduating students in May.
