Graduation 2021 Update

To the Brescia community,

It has been over a year since the onset of the pandemic and the shift to connect and learn in a virtual world. We have experienced significant changes, with one of the biggest challenges being able to gather together, in person, to mark all of the important celebrations that the Brescia community holds close to their hearts.

You may have seen that Western has announced that Spring Convocation will be postponed. Brescia supports Western’s decision, and plans to honour our 2021 graduates with a virtual celebration.

Convocation and Brescia’s Baccalaureate ceremony are such special events for families and graduates alike.  We all have our expectations of graduation and a day filled with exciting events.  While I know this message is disappointing, I’m sure it comes as no surprise. Through the last few months, our community knows that we, at Brescia, have consistently made decisions to prioritize our collective health and safety. The difficult decision to celebrate graduation and our annual Baccalaureate ceremony virtually is not what we had hoped for, but supports our commitment to keep our community healthy, safe and well.

I want the Class of 2021 to know that all of us at Brescia understand how hard you have worked this year and throughout your entire post-secondary journey. You have accomplished so much and reached a very important milestone!

We are so proud of our graduating students for reaching their academic and personal goals. The Class of 2021 will certainly go down in Brescia’s history books as a group of strong women, who overcame many obstacles and responded to the challenges they faced with perseverance and flexibility.

In light of this announcement, I ask that you please mark your calendars for Monday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m. EST. when our community will virtually come together for Brescia’s 2021 graduation celebration. All are welcome to join. Please invite your friends and family, who are both near and far. The advantage of a virtual ceremony is that there is no limit to guests! Our “Class of 2021 Celebration” will be easy to access online, linked from our website.  More details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Brescia’s Class of 2021 is filled with remarkable, exceptional students. Graduating students—your academic achievements and many contributions to our community are a source of great inspiration.  I know that we have all learned many lessons from you on resilience, overcoming obstacles and caring for others.  We are so proud of your accomplishments and know that you are prepared to lead boldly as you take on your next challenge.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Jensen
