The Brescia Centennial Award to mark Brescia's centennial year and the outstanding contributions made by our staff and faculty. The Centennial award was presented to one Brescia staff/faculty member who embodies Brescia's mission and values.
An incredibly kind human who greets everyone with a smile, Gary Lisabeth’s student-centred
attitude fosters Brescia’s mission, vision and values in everything he does. Gary
recalls his initial interview for a groundskeeper role at Brescia: “I walked into
Sister Ruth Marie’s office, saw her big smile, and immediately felt welcomed. My heart
melted and knew this was the right place for me.”
Almost 35 years later, Gary continues to make an impact across the Brescia community
and embody the Ursuline Sisters’ charisma. And faculty couldn’t agree more. Dr. Helene
Cummins shares “I don’t know any of my faculty colleagues that don’t just love, appreciate
and respect Gary. For how hard he works, Gary receives limited recognition. Gary brings
joy into our lives with his kindness and his quiet, humane leadership. Gary is sincerely
a nice person. He is just being his unique self.”
