Since our founding the Ursulines have been committed to environmentalism and sustainability
and our students strive to carry that responsibilty forward.
While our students are always learning about sustainability and food security in our
academic programs, they are able to experience this "hands-on" through community projects.
We know there is work to do to protect our resources for future generations, and Brescia
students understand there is more to simply planting seeds for today, it's about feeding the world tomorrow.
Meet fourth-year Nutrition and Dietetics student, Gillian Darlington. Discover how Gillian leads together through environmental initiatives and supporting others to acheive their leadership goals.
To keep our world environmentally sound I choose to support local farmers who follow sustainable growing practices. I also reduce my personal food waste by shopping mindfully, meal planning and composting fruits and vegetables.
I believe Brescia’s all-women’s learning environment provides students with a supportive, inclusive community. Brescia ultimately gives women the tools and leadership skills they need to conquer both their professional and personal goals.
To the Brescia students that would like to lead boldly, my advice to you is to be confident in your ideas and abilities. Acknowledge that you have the ability to bring something unique to every leadership setting you take part in.
I choose to lead together with my community, by supporting my peers to reach their own personal goals. I believe leadership starts on an individual level and that in order to make large changes, you must motivate others around you to make a difference.
