It’s about seeing the problem having the vision to change it

Brescia students are offered incredible opportunities to drive innovation in nutrition, dietetics and the food science industry. It's not about seeing the problem or issue, it's about thinking strategically to create a unique solution, using the knowledge and skills students attain in their program.

Q&A

Meet third-year Foods and Nutrition student, Nivedita Varagunan. Discover how Nivedita is leading in science by promoting her passion for women's representation in the lab.

  1. Science icon

Why are women in science imperative to not only you, but our world?

At Brescia, I have learned that representation of women in science is imperative not only for me, but across the world. Women bring a unique perspective to the lab, resulting in a more diverse and skillful workforce. It also is important to showcase women in science, so that other women and girls can see that we equally belong and are capable in such environments.

  2. Education icon

What are your beliefs about Brescia’s all-women’s learning environment?

I believe that Brescia's all-women's learning environment provides students with a unique experience in which gender bias and gender discrimination is minimized. Attending a university whose main priority includes the well-being and success of women is beyond meaningful for me.

  3. Advice icon

What advice would you give to Brescia students who want to lead boldly.

I would advise those who want to be bold leaders to not give in to self-doubt. Prioritize eliminating any form of imposter syndrome and encourage others to do the same. There is space for all of us to lead and grow together.

  4. Leading together icon

How do you choose to lead together in your community?

I choose to lead together with the Brescia University Students' Council as well as with Brescia's Agents of Change. Overall, I discovered my passions and followed them! I highly recommend all students do the same.
