Reserve and short loan items are not eligible for renewal.
Some items may be placed on reserve or short-loan status. The loan periods range from one hour to seven days depending on demand. These items are not renewable. Visit the Course Readings site to find materials on reserve for your courses.
On rare occasions, an item may be recalled by staff for Course Readings or other unique circumstances. You will receive an email notification and must return the item within 7 days of the date of recall. Recall fines accrue at $4 per day.
Audio-visual materials (DVDs, CDs, etc.) are kept behind the circulation desk. VHS videos are interfiled with other materials in the stacks. DVDs ,VHS, and CDs can be borrowed for a maximum of 7 days with no renewals permitted.
Reference and Periodical publications are housed in the regular collection or in storage. These materials are designated for in-library use only.
Library items should be returned as soon as they are no longer needed so they are available for use by others.
Short loan and recalled items returned after the due date are subject to overdue fines.
Overdue fines will not be charged for regular loans of any materials. Patrons will be given 30 days to return materials before the item is declared lost.

Borrowers are responsible for all materials logged on their account. It is the responsibility of library account holders to return all items undamaged and to monitor their accounts for suspicious activity. It is the responsibility of library account holders to keep their Identification Cards secure – items borrowed using stolen account information or ID will be the responsibility of the account holder unless the ID theft or suspicious activity was reported to the Library immediately upon discovery.
Borrowers who hold library materials overdue, or who are otherwise indebted to The Beryl Ivey Library, will have their borrowing privileges suspended. Suspension of borrowing privileges occurs when you have accumulated more than $20 in fines. Borrowing privileges will be reinstated when all overdue materials are returned and/or replacement fees paid and all fines and processing fees are paid. Repeated violation of borrowing rules may lead to the permanent suspension of borrowing privileges.

The Beryl Ivey Library accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Interac debit payments at the Library Service Desk.
An online payment option is also available to faculty, students and staff through My Library Account using Visa or MasterCard.
The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service supports the research and scholarship needs of the Brescia community by attempting to borrow materials not available at Western Libraries, the Affiliated University College Libraries (Brescia, Huron, King's) and St. Peter's Seminary or any of the campus resource centres. The service is available to all registered faculty, students and staff of Brescia University College, the other affiliated University Colleges (Huron, King's), Western Libraries, and St. Peter's Seminary.

A valid university identification card is required to borrow items from Western Libraries and the Affiliated University College, as well as from Omni Libraries.
Brescia faculty, students and staff may borrow items from any of the Western Libraries and the Affiliated University College Libraries.
Brescia faculty, students and staff may also borrow general-loan print materials from all participating Omni Libraries. Users may request items via the search tool for pick up at Brescia, Western or Affiliate University College library location, or borrow in-person at any participating library.
