The Beryl Ivey Library has 53 seats & one PC desktop computer with assistive technology available for booking to accommodate one person per table or one person per desktop computer during our open hours. Masks are mandatory and must be worn at all times while visiting the library.

Things to Know Before You Book

  • You may only check-in for your own booking. Western ID is required to check-in.
  • Masks must be worn at all times.
  • Study spaces are limited to one person per space (no multiple person bookings).
  • You can book an appointment for a default of 8 hours per day, with the option to extend your booking beyond that if resources allow.
  • Duration of bookings will be limited to a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • If you do not claim your seat or computer within 15 minutes of your booking it will be cancelled.
  • We have seats available to book within our posted hours of operation.
Please Do Not Visit If

  • You have travelled outside Canada during the previous 14 days.
  • You have symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell.
  • Someone in your household has COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days.
  • Anyone in your household has been exposed to someone who has or is recovering from COVID-19.

Seats that have not been booked ahead of time are also available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visit the Library Service Desk and we can assist you with booking a seat when you arrive.

Library Seat and Computer Details

The Beryl Ivey Library has 53 seats & one PC desktop computer with assistive technology available for booking to accommodate one person per table or one person per desktop computer during our open hours.  Laptops are also available for booking.

  • There are 22 seats (16 tables with power, 6 tables without power) available on the Conversation-Friendly side.
  • There are 6 seats (5 tables, 1 PC desktop computer with assistive technology) available in the Active Learning Lab.
  • There are 11 seats (4 Tables, 7 Carrels) available on the Quiet Study side.
  • There are 16 carrels available on the Second Floor of the library.

Brescia University College students, faculty, and staff can book these seats using their Western ID for 30 minutes to 8 hours, with the option to extend if resources allow. A maximum of one person, per table/carrel, is permitted at this time.  

Beryl Ivey Library staff reserve the right to modify bookings if users do not adhere to health and safety protocols. Parameters for seat bookings may change during the academic year in response to changes in demand or public health, government, or university guidelines.

Library Seat & Computer Booking Instructions

  1. Go to the booking system homepage: https://brescia-uwo.libcal.com/r/new
  2. Select Zone option:
    1. Library Seating
  3. Select Category option:
    1. Conversation-Friendly Side Seating
    2. Active Learning Lab Seating
    3. Quiet Study Side Seating
    4. Second Floor Seating
  4. If accessible seating is required, check off the box next to Accessible. 
  5. If power is required, check off the box next to Powered.
  6. Click Show Availability.
  7. A grid will appear with a list of seats or computers to select from.
    1. If the grid is blue, the seat/computer is available to book.
    2. If the grid is orange, that seat/computer has already been booked.
    3. If the grid is grey, select "Next Available" or "Go to Date".
  8. The “Go to Date” option will pop up with a calendar that allows for seats to be booked up to 5 days in advance.
  9. Once a time slot has been selected, it will be highlighted in yellow and a box will appear below the grid to indicate the date and time of the booking.
  10. If the details look correct, select Submit Times.
  11. Log in with your Western ID.
  12. Please carefully read through the Terms & Conditions before selecting Continue.
  13. Add in a Booking Name.
  14. Click Submit My Booking.
  15. An email will be sent shortly after to confirm the booking, as well as include a link to cancel the booking if necessary.
