Student Signature Pages & Supporting Documentation

These documents can be uploaded directly through your OSAP account. If you are unable to do this, documents can be mailed directly to the Financial Aid Office at Brescia, or dropped off in person to the HIVE at Brescia.

Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA)

This is an online registration process that is completed through the National Student Loan Service Centre website. You will receive an email notification encouraging you to complete this step along with further instructions. You will need to have your Social Insurance Number and banking information at hand.

Fee Deferral
OpenClose

It generally takes 6-8 weeks for OSAP applications to be completed by the Financial Aid Office. To ensure the OSAP funding is received at the start of your study period AND if you are relying on OSAP funding to help pay your fees owing to Brescia, students must apply by June 30, annually.

If you are relying on OSAP to cover your first/second installment of fees owing to Brescia, you need to verify that the amount of OSAP scheduled for release is enough to cover the amount owing to Brescia. Deferral is automatic but you must verify Amount Due vs. OSAP Aid to Come.

If your OSAP funding for the specific term is enough to cover the first/second installment owing, then Brescia will wait for the OSAP to be released and direct the required amount of funding to apply to your outstanding installment on your personal invoice.

If your OSAP funding for the specific term is not enough to cover the first/second installment owing, then then you need to pay the difference by the fee deadline and the available OSAP funding will be directed to your invoice when it is released.

Dates & Deadlines

OSAP applications should be submitted no later than 60 days before the end of your study period.

All supporting documentation or requests for review must be submitted no later than 40 days from the end of your study period.

When To Expect Funding
OpenClose

It generally takes 6-8 weeks for the Financial Aid office to process your application.

The Financial Aid Office must confirm your enrolment before your funding can be released. Enrolment is verified automatically prior to each disbursement. For most students, this happens at the start of the study period (e.g., September) and again halfway through the study period (e.g., January).

Once enrollment is confirmed the Financial Aid Office may direct OSAP funds to Brescia to apply against outstanding fees. Any remaining OSAP would then be directed to the student’s bank account 5-7 business days from when enrollment was confirmed.

Using the “Forgot OAN or password” link on login page is the fastest way to retrieve your OAN or reset your password. You can use this feature if you have already created challenge questions for this website or if you have validated your email address.

Otherwise, you can retrieve your OAN or reset your password in person: Bring proof of your identity to any financial aid office at a public Ontario college or university.

Students are encouraged to review their individual situation with the Financial Aid Officer.
Course Changes – any change to course load, may have an impact on your OSAP eligibility and funding assessment. Students are encouraged to book an appointment with the Financial Aid Officer to discuss the potential impact.

Reviews/Appeals - you may be able to have your application reassessed. Appeals are based on specific provincially-mandated guidelines. Some situations where there is a basis of appeal may include:

  • Family Complexities such as a Family Breakdown or Step-Parent who doesn’t support the student
  • Change in parental or spousal income (ex. loss of job, illness, layoff, retirement)
  • Adjust Living Allowance
  • Adjust Local Travel
  • Personal Circumstance Review for students with extenuating circumstances that impacted academic progression.

This list is not exhaustive. If you feel you are in a situation that requires special consideration, please make an appointment with the Financial Aid Officer.

Continuation of Interest Free Status
OpenClose

If you are currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis in each term (ie. 60% or more of a full course load; 40% if you are a student with a permanent disability) and you are NOT receiving Full-Time OSAP funding for your current study period, or your funding application has been delayed, you must complete a Continuation of Interest-Free Status Application.

The Continuation of Interest-Free Status Application is the way the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) is notified that you’re back in full-time studies. You can apply for Continuation of Interest Free Status by logging in to your online OSAP account and submitting the CIFS application. For more information about Continuation of Interest Free Status visit the OSAP website.
