Brescia offers many scholarships, awards, and bursaries available to both new and returning Brescia students. Some awards and scholarships are automatically awarded, while others require time to review eligibility and complete applications. The eligibility criteria for each award can be found in the descriptions below.

Automatic Awards

The scholarships listed below are automatic and guaranteed based on final admission averages, as calculated by Brescia. Entrance scholarships are renewable in subsequent years if students maintain an 80% average on 5.0 courses taken concurrently in the September to April term while registered at Brescia.

Transfer
The CAAT and CEGEP scholarships are automatic and guaranteed to students applying from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) or a Collège d’Enseignement Général et Professionnel (CEGEP) and who will be pursuing full-time studies at Brescia in their first year. These scholarships are renewable in subsequent years if students maintain an 80% average on 5.0 courses taken concurrently in the September to April term while registered at Brescia University.

Automatic Program Awards
Students must be entering Year 1 of the specific program from secondary school to qualify for program based awards and must be registered in full-time studies (5.0 courses). These awards are automatic and come with an offer of admission (if applicant is eligible), and can be held in conjunction with a Brescia Entrance scholarship.

Application Based Awards

Students may submit applications for the awards below. These awards may be held in conjunction with an Entrance scholarship. Arts and Humanities students must be registered in 2.0 Arts and Humanities courses at Brescia to be eligible.

Domestic

Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Entrance Award

For incoming students who have completed a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM). The SHSM award is a one-time award valued at $500. No application required, but applicants must self-declare to the Admissions Office. Students must have an 82% admission average as calculated by Brescia’s Admissions Office, and be entering full-time studies for the upcoming academic year. The SHSM award may be held in conjunction with a Brescia Entrance Scholarship.

International

Global Leader Award Application

Purpose
The Global Leader Award is granted to a new incoming student to Brescia entering Year 1 undergraduate or preliminary year and paying international tuition fees who demonstrates academic and leadership achievements.
The Award

The recipient of the Global Leader Award will receive:

  • $6,000 applied to the student’s tuition account for the 2024-2025 academic year, and
  • A shared ensuite residence room in Clare Hall for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Global Leader Award will be granted in lieu of an Entrance Scholarship. If a student chooses not to live in residence, only the tuition portion will be awarded. The residence portion of the award is awarded for one year only. 

This award cannot be combined with other application-based scholarships.

Eligibility Requirement
  • Applicants must be a new incoming student to Brescia entering Year 1 undergraduate or preliminary year and paying international fees
  • Applicants must be registered as full-time students at Brescia University College
  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum 80% admission average based on final grades.

Deadline: May 1st, annually.

Renewal Requirements
  • The tuition component of the Global Leader Award is eligible for renewal. To retain this portion, the student must maintain an 80% average on 5.0 courses taken in the prior year while registered at Brescia University College. 
Incoming Student Scholarship Application Form

 

International President’s Award

Purpose
Brescia University College recognizes the contributions that students make to their schools and communities. The purpose of this award is to support new incoming international students in pursuing their undergraduate education at Brescia.
The Award

The recipients of the International President’s Award will receive:

  • Up to $5,000 for an incoming undergraduate student and up to $2500 for an incoming preliminary year student to apply towards academic tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • January Start Students (incoming Year 1 undergraduate or Preliminary Year student) will receive half of the award to be applied to the January term and the other half of the award to be applied to the following September term
Eligibility Requirement
  • Applicants must be a new incoming student to Brescia entering Year 1 undergraduate or preliminary year and paying international fees
  • Applicants must meet minimum admission requirements for their program.
  • Applicants are asked to provide information about their extracurricular involvement in school, as well as volunteer and leadership positions they have held in their community.
  • Applicants must be registered as full-time students at Brescia University College paying full-time international tuition fees.

Deadline: January Start students November 15th, 2023. September Start students May 1st, 2024.

Ursuline Scholars International Award Application

Purpose
This Ursuline Scholars International Award is awarded to an undergraduate student who is paying international student fees. The award is open to full-time students registered in any year at Brescia University College. The Ursuline Scholars International Award can be awarded in addition to an Entrance Scholarship.    
The Award

The recipient of the Ursuline Scholars International Award will receive:

  • $3,000 towards academic tuition applied to the 2024-2025 academic year.
Eligibility Requirement
  • International student studying full-time and entering first, second, third, or fourth year.
  • Applicants registering at Brescia for the first time must meet the minimum admission average required for their program. Applicants currently registered at Brescia must meet a minimum 70% average.
  • Applicants must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need.

Domestic and International

Community Leader Award Application

Purpose
Brescia University College recognizes the contributions that students make in their schools and to their communities.  The variety of service and participation in which students engage in not only provides them with valuable learning experiences, but also allows them to make real contributions to society.
The Award

The Brescia Community Leader Award has a value of $1,000. Six awards will be made each year to new incoming students with the strongest applications (Four domestic student awards; two international student awards).

  • Applicants are asked to provide information about extracurricular involvement in their schools, work experiences, and/or volunteer positions they have held in the community.
  • Applicants will submit a brief essay explaining how they have contributed to their community and what leadership skills they have learned from their activities.
  • A student may hold the Community Leader Award in conjunction with an Entrance Scholarship but cannot receive Brescia scholarship or award monies (excluding bursary monies) in excess of the individual student's tuition per academic year.

  • Applicants must be an incoming student to Brescia 
  • Applicants must meet minimum admission requirements for their program.
  • Applicants must be registered as full-time students at Brescia University College

BresciaLEAD Excellence Award Application

Purpose
Brescia University College recognizes the leadership contributions that our incoming students make in their schools and in their communities. The many different kinds of service in which students engage in not only provides them with valuable learning experiences, but also allows students to make real contributions to society
The Award

The BresciaLEAD Excellence Award has a value of $5,000 (applied to the current year of registration).

  • One award will be made each year to a new, full-time, incoming Brescia student.
  • Applicants are asked to provide information about extracurricular involvement in their school, as well as volunteer and leadership positions they have held in their community.
  • Applicants must submit a brief essay explaining how they have contributed to their community, and what leadership skills they have learned from their experiences.
  • The incoming student may hold the BresciaLEAD Excellence Award in conjunction with an Entrance Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirement
  • Applicants must meet the minimum admission requirements for their program.
  • Applicants must be an incoming, full-time Brescia student.
  • The BresciaLEAD Excellence Award may not be held in conjunction with a Community Leader Award

Kyle MacDonald Varsity Student Athlete Award

Purpose
The Kyle MacDonald Varsity Student Athlete Award is designed to support Brescia University College varsity athletes in their academic and athletic journeys. Prospective varsity athletes at Brescia may be eligible to receive up to $4,000 for the Kyle MacDonald Student Athlete Award. This award was established through a generous donation from Kyle MacDonald to recognize the value of enriched educational experiences and the dedication of bold Brescia student-athletes. 
The Award
  • Students are encouraged to self-declare if they are a prospective varsity athlete.
  • According to OUA regulations, the maximum that an eligible student-athlete can receive in Athletic Financial Awards/scholarships is $5,000 annually. The amount offered may be less, but it cannot exceed $5,000.
  • This scholarship may be held with a Brescia Entrance or Continuing Scholarship and/or program-based award.
  • Applications for the Kyle MacDonald Varsity Student Athlete Award must be received by September 15th, annually.
  • New recipients and renewal applications of the award will be determined in late October each year.
Eligibility Requirement
  • To be eligible you must be a varsity athlete in any year of study at Brescia University College.
  • Incoming students must meet the minimum required entrance average.
  • Returning students have achieved a minimum 70% average in the previous year of study.
Kyle MacDonald Varsity Student Athlete Award Form

 

Brescia Catholic Education Foundation of Ontario Entrance Awards

Brescia offers a one-time Brescia CEFO Entrance Award of $500 to all incoming Brescia students who are also a recipient of a CEFO Student Award. Students who receive awards from the Catholic Education Foundation of Ontario are recognized for their academic achievement as well as their significant contributions to their school, parish, and community. No application is required, but applicants must self-declare to the Admissions Office. Students must have an 82% admission average as calculated by Brescia’s Admissions Office, and be entering full-time studies for the upcoming academic year. The Brescia CEFO award may be held in conjunction with a Brescia Entrance Scholarship

Preliminary

Ursuline Scholars Preliminary Year Program Award Application

Purpose
The Ursuline Scholars Preliminary Year Program Award is granted to one student entering Brescia’s Preliminary Year Program who demonstrates involvement in extracurricular activities. Preference is given to a student paying international fees.
The Award

The recipient of the Ursuline Scholars Preliminary Year Award will receive:

  • $3,000 towards academic tuition applied to the 2024-2025 academic year.
Eligibility Requirement
  • Applicants must be registered as full-time students in the Preliminary Year Program at Brescia University College.
  • Applicants must meet the minimum admission average required for the Preliminary Year Program.
  • Applicants must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities.
