Application Awards & Bursaries

Below are the scholarships, awards and bursaries that have been made available to Brescia students through various generous donors. These scholarships, awards and bursaries require an application and/or supplementary documentation.

Important Notes:

  • The selected student recipient of each award will be notified in November by their Western email account and will be invited to attend the Brescia Awards Ceremony.
  • The “Estimated Value” may be subject to change without notice.

Dr. Shirley Van Nuland Award 3rd or 4th year, minimum 75% average in previous year of study, demonstrated active engagement in course work, demonstrated financial need, preference to student with demonstrated commitment to and involvement in co-curricular activities and volunteerism in the Brescia community $1000 October 15th, annually

Eleanore Donnelly Bursary Mature student, out of high school for a minimum of 4 years. Minimum 60% course load in first year, live in London, at least 21 years old, entering first year of a 3 or 4 year program, first degree, financial need. Eligible for renewable. Heather MacDougall Memorial Bursary Third-year student who has shown a commitment to volunteering in the community. Demonstrated financial need. Ontario residency requirements. $3000 October 15th, annually
Howard and Lois Hewitt Scholarship Full-time Brescia student entering second, third, or fourth year. Demonstrated leadership and initiative as evidenced by her involvement in co-curricular activities, volunteerism, social justice, family responsibility, or community service. Acknowledged as a hard-working student as evidenced by a letter of recommendation from one or more faculty members. Preference will be given to a student with demonstrated financial need. $6,000 September. 15th, annually
Ilva Costantini-Stoll Memorial Award Third or fourth year of an Honours program who is involved in charity or volunteer work. $1500 October 15th, annually

Kathryn Munn Dimensions of Leadership Scholarship Awarded to a student who exemplifies the Dimensions of Leadership program’s commitment to developing leaders. Minimum 80% average, demonstrated financial need, Ontario residency requirements. $1000 October 15th, annually
Linda Buchanan Memorial Award Second, third, or fourth year student in the Foods and Nutrition program. Volunteerism in more than one area, main area should be health or social services – especially psychology. $100 October 15th, annually
Madeleine Hart Award Second, third, or fourth year Brescia student with a minimum average of 75% who is involved in volunteerism and has an understanding for women’s issues as demonstrated through either course or volunteer placements/practicums and is eligible for OSAP. $800 October 15th, annually
Martha (Molina) Steers Bursary Preference is given to a Foods and Nutrition student. Demonstrated financial need. Ontario residency requirements. $500

Martha (Molina) Steers Leadership Award Fourth year Foods and Nutrition student, with minimum 80% average. An interest in international nutrition work. Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS) and Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF) I and II Demonstrated financial need. Ontario residency requirements. Multiple awards $100 – $2,000

Ottawa Home Economics Association Award Second, third or fourth year student in Foods & Nutrition or Human Ecology, who volunteers in the community and is an active participant in student professional development

Patricia Doig Leadership Award Full-time student in third or fourth year in the Dimensions of Leadership program or its equivalent. Demonstrated commitment to the Ursuline value of building community through her leadership volunteer activities within the Brescia community, the London community and/or beyond. Full-time student entering second, third, or fourth year. Demonstrated commitment to Brescia's value of building community through leadership in volunteer activities within Brescia, the London community, or beyond. Peggy Lord Memorial Award Available to a student in any year paying international fees, demonstrated financial need, demonstrated commitment to the Ursuline Sister's value of building community through leadership volunteer activities within the Brescia community, London community and/or beyond.
