Community Residence

All students living in residence select the “House” that best suits their needs while living in Clare Hall.

First year students are able to choose between Inizio House or Brescia House and Esperto House is reserved for upper-year students.

Inizio House

In Italian, “inizio” means “beginning, start, and departure”.

Inizio House supports incoming students by creating an environment geared towards easing the transition into university life. Residence Assistances and Community Assistances provide programing to create a supportive and compassionate environment for all students.

Inizio House has extended study hours during the exam and mid-term periods, and a limited guest policy. Residents are permitted up to 10 overnight guest stays per term, provided that these stays do not have a negative impact on the residence community. Male guests are not permitted to stay overnight in Inizio House.

Brescia House

Brescia values women, and their potential for bold leadership.

Brescia House embraces students during all stages of their studies. Residence Assistances and Community Assistances provide programming and support services that will enhance community living.

At Brescia House there are fewer restrictions with the guest policy. Residents are challenged to be governed by the impact of their own actions in the broader community. Residents are permitted up to 12 overnight guest stays per term, provided that these stays do not have a negative impact on the residence community. Male guests are permitted to stay overnight in Brescia House.

Esperto House

In Italian, “esperto” means “qualified, capable, and familiar”.

Esperto House is designed for upper-year and graduate students. As the community will be restricted to those in their second year or higher, Residence Assistances and Community Assistances provide programming focused on supporting a group of learners transitioning through the senior years of study.

At Esperto House there are fewer restrictions with the guest policy and residents are challenged to be governed by the impact of their actions in the broader community. There are no set restrictions on the number of overnight guest stays per term, provided that these stays do not have a negative impact on the residence community.  Male guests are permitted to stay overnight in Esperto House.
