FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

London, ON – Brescia is making a difference locally by donating over 200 items of clothing to Anova, formerly Women’s Community House and Sexual Assault Centre London. As is often the case at the end of an academic year, university students find their bags are overfilled for their journey home for the summer. Making it easier for students to “lighten their load”, while making a difference locally, on August 9th Brescia delivered these items to Anova in hopes that other women could take advantage of the clothing.

“At Brescia, every level of our community is encouraged to be leaders and to follow in the Ursuline tradition by generously giving back to our community,” explains Carolyn Temple, Brescia Residence Manager. “The mission and values of Anova closely align with Brescia’s, in the guidance and support of women, and we are so pleased to be able to give a second-life to our student’s clothing and donate to this meaningful local organization.”

“We are so thrilled that Brescia has gathered clothes for us as it helps our women and children so much,” says Kate Wiggins, Anova Executive Director. She goes on to say, “What we don’t need for our residents goes to our social enterprise Mine 101, the proceeds help fund our children’s programs.”

Women’s Community House (now known as Anova) has provided emergency and short term shelter and support for abused women and their children throughout the London area for over 39 years. Today, the organization’s support is focused on four key areas: Shelter; Advocacy; Support and Education.
