How to Apply

Application to the Fall 2021 intake for the MScFN Internship Stream program is now closed and applications are no longer being accepted.

Note for those who submitted an application prior to the January 15th, 2021 deadline, interviews for the MScFN Internship stream program will be held  February 17th and 18th via online platforms. Those selected to attend an interview will be notified by email.

Selection Process

Interviews for the MScFN Internship stream program will be held  February 17th and 18th via online platforms. Those selected to attend an interview will be notified by email. Applicants are advised to check their email frequently during this time-frame, including spam or junk email folders, to avoid missing an interview opportunity. 

The interview will be conducted using a virtual, modified MMI format, and attendance will be mandatory for program acceptance consideration. Those invited to an interview should ensure they will have access to stable internet connection, and video and microphone capabilities. Further interview details will be provided to those invited to the interviews

Notification of program acceptance will be made to successful candidates starting in March until all seats in the program have been filled.  Those not interviewed during the February interview timeframe will not be considered for acceptance to the program. 

Items completed through online application:

Please ensure you make note of the components for the application before starting the application. Components are completed as part of the online application and directions will be included throughout the application process.

Note: Applicants are not responsible to find a Faculty Research Supervisor before applying to the MScFN, Internship stream program. Instead, applicants are prompted to list research interests and preferred Faculty Research Supervisors in their application, to facilitate the matching process.

Submission Requirements


The contact information for two referees is required for application to this program, with at least one who has known you in a professional capacity. Referees should have first-hand knowledge of your abilities, be someone who oversaw your work directly, and be able to provide an evaluation of your performance and potential for graduate studies.

As part of the online application process, you will be prompted to submit the referee contact information as a PDF that you create and then upload to your application. This document must include the following details:

  • Referee name
  • Title
  • Organization name
  • Professional (organization) email address and phone number
  • Clarification of your relationship and experience gained

Please ensure you have asked your referee in advance of uploading their contact information to the application, and explain that they could be contacted by email or phone at any point during the admissions process, most commonly in February or early March. A reference letter will not be required from them.


Supply transcripts for all post-secondary institutions you have attended.

If you are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution you will need to upload transcripts once your fall term grades have been added to the transcript, and in time to meet the application deadline.

You will be asked to submit official documentation only if you are offered admission to the program.

Your resume should be a maximum of two (2) pages plus an additional one (1) page cover letter. Your resume should be in reverse chronological order. All work and/or volunteer experience should include the number of hours and the dates. No high school experience, please, unless it is work that continued into university years.

The cover letter should be professional in format, and speak to why you are a good fit for the program, and how your experiences, skills and personal qualities will contribute to your success in the program, as well as your commitment to undertake Master’s level education.

Supplemental Questions

Please ensure you upload the completed Supplemental Questions document to the Supplemental Documents area of the online application (you will be prompted to do this as part of the online application).

In addition, you must complete the Practicum Travel Requirement Agreement.

Additional Submission Requirements

Please ensure you complete and upload the following two items to the Supplemental Documents area of the online application (you will be prompted to do this as part of the online application).

  1. Supplemental Questions Internship Stream Applicants
  2. Practicum Travel Requirement Agreement

Applicants are also required to upload the following two items:

  1. Proof of Class G2 Ontario Driver’s Licence (or equivalent). Internship stream students must have access to a vehicle and be able to drive unattended throughout the practicum portion of their program.
  2. Confirmation of Completion of PDEP Accredited Program form – signed by your accredited undergraduate dietetics education university program administration

Without uploading the above four items, your application will not be considered to be complete.
