How to Apply

To complete the online application, please ensure you make note of the components of the application before starting the application. Components are completed as part of the online application and directions will be included throughout the application process. 

Note: Applicants are not responsible to find a Faculty Research Supervisor before applying to the MScFN program. Applicants are prompted to list research interests and preferred Faculty Research Supervisors in their application, to facilitate the matching process.

Submission Requirements


Upload the contact information for two referees who have relevant  knowledge of your dietetic experience. Referees must be direct supervisors who can speak to your performance, experience and knowledge. 

As part of the online application process, you will be prompted to submit the referee contact information as a PDF that you create and upload to your application.

Please include the referee name, title, professional email address and phone number. 

Please ensure you have asked your referee in advance of adding their contact information to the application, and explain that they could be contacted at any point during the admissions process, most commonly during February or March.


Supply transcripts for all post-secondary institutions you have attended.

If you are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution you will need to upload transcripts once your fall term grades have been added to the transcript, and in time to meet the application deadline.

You will be asked to submit official documentation only if you are offered admission to the program.

Instructions for uploading documents are outlined in the application - please read carefully.

Your resume should be a maximum of two (2) pages and an additional one (1) page cover letter. Please reference your past/current dietetic experience, your future career goals in dietetics and/or research, as well as your commitment to undertake the Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition program.
Supplemental Questions

Please ensure you upload the completed Supplemental Questions document to the Supplemental Documents area of the online application (you will be prompted to do this as part of the online application).

In addition, you must complete the Practicum Travel Requirement Agreement.

Additional Submission Requirements
  • Proof of Class G2 Ontario Driver’s Licence (or equivalent). Internship stream students must have access to a vehicle and be able to drive unattended throughout the practicum portion of their program.
  • Confirmation of Completion of PDEP Accredited Program form – signed by your accredited undergraduate dietetics education university program administration


Selection Process

Interviews for the MScFN Internship stream program will be held during a week in February. Those selected to attend an interview will be notified by email the week before, and in-person attendance is mandatory. Applicants are advised to check their email frequently during this time-frame, including spam or junk email folders. Those not interviewed during this timeframe will not be considered for acceptance to the program. 

Notification of program acceptance will be made to successful candidates starting in March until all seats in the program have been filled.
