Kendra Green, Class of 95, has continually demonstrated the competence, grit and grace required of an entrepreneur with an evolving career. During her time at Brescia, she worked in a café. Shortly after, she bought that location and transformed it into a franchise known as the Little Red Roaster. She then supplemented the nostalgic coffee shop with a large catering business, burger restaurant and cupcake shop. Because, why not?

For years, her stores experienced great success and, each time the world required it, Kendra would pivot to generate new and unique value for her consumers. Eager to perpetually evolve to sustain and enhance her entrepreneurial empire, about a decade ago, Kendra and her husband began exploring ideas around consignment.

“When the idea first got brought up, I balked,” Kendra shares. “At that time, I only really knew food. I knew nothing about the luxury industry. But, then it stuck with me, and I started to do my research. Very quickly, I realized people in Southwestern Ontario wanted the level of access to luxury brands that was previously not available to them.”

After focusing her consignment efforts online and curating luxury experiences for her consumers, Kendra started welcoming customers from across the region to her two locations in London and Stratford. In response to the growing demand, she and her team began – and continue – to expand and adapt their marketing. The result has been a growing following of enthusiastic fans and an elite selection of products, ranging from YSL through to coveted vintage Chanel.

From food and coffee to clothing, this Brescia alumna is only ever predictable in the unpredictability of what she will serve up next. Kendra’s meandering career path, which started with a Political Science and Business Administration degree at Brescia, shows the importance of gaining transferrable over technical competencies.

“My success in business stems from my classroom experiences at Brescia where I had direct access to professors I could bounce ideas off of,” Kendra shares. “They always encouraged me to look beyond the corporate box and see other career paths – ones that aligned with my energy and purpose.”

 

Kendra believes in the special sauce at Brescia so much she has encouraged BOTH her daughters to follow in her bold steps at Canada’s women’s university. We are happy to share her eldest is already part of our campus and we have been delighted to, most recently, welcome her youngest to an event we co-hosted with Western’s Morrissette Institute of Entrepreneurship.

During our Women in Entrepreneurship panel, Kendra and her daughters saw Brescia’s distinct environment in action, as we welcomed dozens of high-powered women to share their insights with our community. The event involved CEOs & Founders, dieticians, academics and more – all who gathered to inspire, challenge and connect with one another.

“I wanted [my daughter] Julia to see what she will get out of Brescia. It’s so awesome to see women in leadership who have benefitted so much from the confidence-building experiences offered at this school. You really go through such a shift here: you start as someone who may be shy or unsure and become a woman who thrives within unconventional, challenging spaces that lead to a life you love.”

 

 

Brescia is a place where women can do it all and gain the confidence to carry this belief in themselves out into the world. We are so happy to see how Kendra has evolved with the ebbs and flows of the post-pandemic world, in ways that are allowing her to create beautiful experiences for her clients. Everyone at Brescia looks forward to her continued upward momentum and, of course, to caring deeply for her daughters as they carve out their own incredible paths.
